Expedition Everest Tips

  • Scary Factor: Yes, it can be scary for some. Expediton Everest does NOT go upside down but features steep drops, sharp turns, and a backward section in the dark. The encounter with the Yeti may be startling for younger or sensitive riders.
  • Speed: Expedition Everest reaches speeds of up to 50 mph (80 km/h), making it one of the fastest rides at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
  • Ride Duration: Approximately 2 minutes and 50 seconds long, offering a fast-paced, action-packed experience.
  • Drops: Features several drops, including an 80-foot (24-meter) drop and a backward descent.
  • Pregnancy Advisory: Not recommended for pregnant guests due to high speeds, drops, and sudden movements.
  • Accessibility: Wheelchair and ECV users can access the boarding area then transfer to the train. A row with a wider door is available, and transfers should be practiced at the test seat near the Single Rider Line, as guests are required to board in around 30 seconds or less.
  • Sensory Advisory: Features rough, jerky motion, backward sections, an 80-foot drop, sudden stops, and hard turns, which may cause disorientation or neck discomfort. Simulated steam/smoke effects, sudden transitions between light and dark add to sensory intensity. May trigger motion sickness. Includes loud roaring, screaming, and Yeti visuals that may startle.
  • Plus-Size Friendly: Molded bucket seats with lap bars can feel snug for plus-size riders. Seats have a high back for head support.
  • Best Age Group: Suitable for older children, teens, and adults who enjoy thrilling coasters. Younger or more cautious kids may find it too intense.
