5 Ways WDW Value Resorts Fall Short of Moderate & Deluxe Hotels

Disney World is known for its magical experiences, but when it comes to staying on property, not all resorts are created equal. While Disney’s Value Resorts might seem like a great deal, they come with compromises you should consider before booking your stay.

5 Ways Value Resorts Fall Short of Moderate & Deluxe Hotels at Disney World

  1. Limited Space for Larger Families
    • Value Resorts: Standard rooms are small, which isn’t ideal for large families or groups. Standard rooms are designed to accommodate up to four people, which can be cramped if you have older kids or larger groups.
    • Moderate & Deluxe Resorts: Standard rooms are larger, giving you more space to spread out and relax. If you need extra space for your family, this could be a major factor in choosing your resort.
  1. Basic (and Often Noisy) Amenities
    • Value Resorts: These resorts provide the basics – a bed, bathroom, and limited amenities. The pop culture themes are fun but don’t offer the same level of sophistication or luxury you’ll find at higher-tier resorts.
    • Moderate & Deluxe Resorts: Higher-end resorts offer more luxurious amenities, such as themed pools with waterslides and splash pads, full-service restaurants, and quieter, more serene atmospheres. If you’re looking for a true getaway experience, a Moderate or Deluxe Resort may provide more comfort.
  1. Less Convenient Location
    • Value Resorts: While Disney’s Value Resorts are located on Disney property, they are farther from the parks and require transit times. This can eat up valuable time, especially if you’re planning a full day at the parks.
    • Moderate & Deluxe Resorts: These resorts are located closer to the parks (some even within walking distance!) saving you time and making it easier to pop back to your room for a break. They also tend offer non-bus transportation (monorail, boats, or Skyliner) for a premium experience.
  1. Fewer Dining Options
    • Value Resorts: We hope you like quick service, cafeteria-style restaurants because that’s all you’re getting at these budget-friendly properties.
    • Moderate & Deluxe Resorts: These resorts offer sit-down restaurants, with a broader selection of cuisine and dining experiences. These resorts also often feature character meals, making them a better choice for those looking to enhance their overall Disney experience.
  1. Access to Evening Extended Hours
    • Value Resorts: While all Disney resort guests have access Early Theme Park entry, you will miss out on Extended Evening Theme Parks hours on select nights.
    • Deluxe Resorts: Guests at Deluxe Resorts enjoy a range of exclusive perks, such as Extended Evening Hours at select parks, which give you extra time in the parks after regular hoursThese additional perks can significantly enhance your Disney vacation experience.

Which Resort is Right for You?

Disney’s Value Resorts can be a great option if you’re traveling on a tight budget or if you’re just looking for a place to sleep while you spend most of your time in the parks. But if you’re looking for a more luxurious experience with more space, better dining options, and a more immersive environment, the Moderate and Deluxe Resorts are the way to go.
